Swans Invest £1Million on New Training Facilities
By: Tom | August 13th, 2009Huw Jenkins today announced the immediate building of a new training facility. Work will begin on a new complex at the site of the old Llandore BSC sports ground. The building of the new training facilities are part of the long held goal of the board to gain Academy status from the football league. The club has already invested heavily in relaying the training pitches but now a whole new facility should take the club to a whole new level on and off the pitch. Plagued by the debts of previous owners the board has never had the money to invest in the training and Academy side of things but now the club has established its self on a solid financial footing the board have done the right thing and invested in the future at the first opportunity. The plans will include a full size pitch to the exact dimensions of the Liberty which can only help to mould the youth sides to become used to the size of the pitch and the range of passing required to play the ‘Swansea way’. With this investment and the possibility of achieving Academy status, the club should be able to test it’s youth against the best academies around the country, allowing them to become used to playing competitive and professionaly run sides for the duration of their growth as trainees. Once again the board has done the club proud.
