Return of Magic Daps?
By: Tom | August 5th, 2009Lee Trundle, modern day Swansea legend has been declaring his love for the Swans in a crafty bid to engineer a move to the club. Trundle 33 has been told he can leave Bristol City if a loan or permanent transfer is received and it is thought Lee will grab that chance. Lee Trundle moved to Bristol for £1,000,000 on the eve of the 2007/08 season and left many Swans fans bitter that not only did he leave but because it left Martinez no time to bring in a replacement for him. Times have changed and the Swans squad he left behind are no longer a one-man team, the whole squad play for each other and the style and system we play is alien to the British game. Many do not want him back claiming he is to unfit and didn’t cut it at Championship level but personally I would welcome him back. I’d argue that at Bristol, Trundle was played out of position and for a player like Lee long periods not on the pitch are only going to hinder his confidence. Lee has always been a driven and determined player and this stems from the fact he entered football late in his 20’s. I’ll admit I’m sentimental about him because he was a hero to me as a teenager, but despite this I think for £50,000 it would make cracking business sense adding an extra 2000 to the gate and with the work he has put in on the training ground to get back into the squad at Bristol apparently he is as fit as he has ever been. I think Trunds knows by now that times and Swansea has changed. We are no longer synonymous with Trundle but famous in our own right and he would have to fight for his place. He has done all he can to engineer a move to the Swans, claiming a move back to us would be his dream scenario.
What ever happens I hope Trundle gets his chance to play first team football at another club because love him or hate him he was born to entertain fans with his massive array of tricks and his ability to score special goals.

I understood he turned up for pre-season at Bristol completely overweight and out of shape?
Surely you should be aiming higher than a lower-league journeyman who’s done *nothing at this level? Sentimentality won’t keep you up – and he’ll want hefty wedge, even if you get him for free. It’d be like going back to the ex – best left well alone, I’d have thought.

We have plenty of other Irons in the fire and it probably wouldn’t happen, but who knows… He’s actually been training with us and rumours are Sousa has been impressed with his fitness and desire. The new system we are playing allows for more support from the wingers so I’m not to concerned with our situation. I’d still take him over Fallon any day.
