New sponsors
By: Tom | June 27th, 2009
Swansea City unveiled 32Red.com as the 2009/10 sponsor. The deal is believed to be the biggest in Swansea’s history and heralds in a new era for a club that has had to rely on locally based businesses in the past for sponsorship.
Swansea vice chairman Leigh Dineen highlighted this rise in the club’s profile and the potential ventures the club could have had.
“We saw a number of other major companies express an interest in becoming our main sponsor and there were some very interesting discussions over the course of last season, but 32Red was without doubt the best deal for us. 32Red were talking to a number of other clubs, including some in the Premiership, about shirt sponsorship, but we are delighted to become their chosen partners in football. We are now a Championship club with a Premiership sponsor – and that’s something that we should be very proud of.”
And 32Red appear to be happy with the link up themselves, Ed Ware, CEO of 32Red added “We are thrilled to be partnering Swansea City, one of the most exciting clubs in the Championship. Swansea has become a highly progressive team over recent seasons and we are looking forward to an exciting time with them at the Liberty Stadium as the club’s main sponsor.”
Hopefully some of this new investment will go into the transfer fund, as strengthening for next season is yet to fully begin.
