A Win, a Signing and Some Decent Rumours! Not a Bad Weekend!
By: Tom | August 22nd, 2009Permission to shout ‘Get In!’
A first league win against a strong and talented Coventry side has brought some joy to an uncertain start to the season. Paulo has done wonders with an injury hit squad and to continue playing the slick passing style we have earned plaudits for under such conditions is a job very well done. More pleasing to me is the amazing confidence and belief Paulo has in the very young squad members, giving no less than four professional debuts.
I cannot wait for the return of the big guns from injury and if we are capable of playing good football with a mismatched team, we are well capable of hitting similar form to that of last season with a fully fit squad. This season will be harder but if we can weather this storm we can look forward to a fair fight in the championship with a squad packed with ability.
I am concerned however with the lack of striking options. Dobbie is top class and one of the most technically gifted players I have seen for some time, but he needs a strike partner and that just isn’t our style. That said I feel he could play (and score) out wide and if Paulo does bring in a goal scorer we really could be deadly!
I reserve judgment on our newest addition, Austrian born front-man Besian Idrizaj as I know nothing about him and his record does concern me. I was hoping for a big name, and an established hit-man at that.
I am however excited by the rumour of Wes Hoolahan. His signature I believe would really make for a cracking addition. My sources say he’s already been around the stadium and facilities so a deal appears to be close. Not a bad weekend and lots of positives.
